The New York Giants enter the 2025 NFL Draft knowing that their biggest long-term need is to find their Eli Manning of the future. However, with the recent signing of free agent veterans Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston, they have eliminated the need to find a quarterback that can play right away.
The Giants have the 3rd selection, giving them a guaranteed opportunity to select one of the three consensus top non-QB options in this draft:
- Abdul Carter, EDGE, Penn State
- Travis Hunter, WR/CB, Colorado
- Mason Graham, DT, Michigan
Quarterback? Or best available? That’s the question that Giants’ General Manager Joe Schoen and Head Coach Brian Daboll are wrestling with as we count down to the NFL Draft that starts on Thursday, April 24 in Green Bay.

Without further ado, let’s fire up the simulation. The New York Giant Mock 2025 NFL Draft (1.0) has been created by using Pro Football Network’s “NFL Draft Simulator”. The simulator makes all picks, except for the Giants. Yours truly will make those. While the simulator allows trades, we will not use that feature in v1.
The First Two Picks
- Tennessee Titans select Cam Ward, QB, Miami (FL)
- Cleveland Browns select Will Cambell, OT, LSU
The Giants Are On The Clock
The simulator threw us a curveball as we were expecting the Browns to either select QB Shedeur Sanders or one of the big 3 listed above. Now, all are available to the Giants. In our mind, this pick is a no-brainer, as we select the Heisman Trophy winner that will make an immediate impact on both sides of the ball.
Final Results
- 1st Round (3rd overall) Travis Hunter, CB, Colorado
- 2nd Round (34th overall) Tyler Shough, QB, Louisville
- 3rd Round (65th overall) Ozzy Trapilo, OT, Boston College
- 3rd Round (99th overall) Elijah Arroyo, TE, Miami (FL)
- 4th Round (105th overall) Quincy Riley, CB, Louisville
- 5th Round (154th overall) Jamaree Caldwell, DT, Oregon
- 7th Round (219th overall) Shilo Sanders, S, Colorado
- 7th Round (246th overall) Xavier Truss, OG, Georgia
Final Thoughts
The speculation is that the Giants would use Hunter full-time on defense at their top cover corner. He would then sprinkle in on offensive depending on how he handles the playbook and the workload. Even in a part-time role his presence should benefit last year’s top pick Malik Nabers. Shough gets points off for his age (25) and injury history (he played 7 years in college). However, he’s coming off a solid 2024 season and has the traits that would’ve made him a first-round contender if he was younger and injury free. The Giants get good value in getting Arroyo at the end of the third round, and they load up on the secondary with Riley (Shough’s college teammate) and Sanders (Deon’s other son and Hunter’s teammate).
