We are mere hours away from the start of the 2025 NFL Draft (Thursday, 8p ET) on ABC, ESPN, ESPN2, ESPN Deportes and the NFL Network. Keep a tab open on your phone or tablet with the New York Jets Final 2025 NFL Draft Guide as a quick resource while you are watching the draft.
We will review the Jets’ top needs, their depth needs, their current draft picks and an official list of their current starters. Let’s start with our first-round strategy and top ten targets to get you ready for pick #7.

WHO’S INCLUDED IN THE TOP TEN
We’re going “best player available” only if he fits a need. Based on the Jets’ current roster, we are not including any QBs, RBs, LBs or CBs on the Jets target list.
JETS TOP TEN TARGETS
- Travis Hunter, CB/WR, Colorado
- Abdul Carter, EDGE, Penn State
- Mason Graham, DT, Michigan
- Arman Membou, OT, Missouri
- Kelvin Banks, Jr, OT, Texas
- Tyler Warren, TE, Penn State
- Jalon Walker, Edge, Georgia
- Colston Loveland, TE, Michigan
- Josh Simmons, OT, Ohio State
- Malaki Starks, S, Georgia
JETS FIRST-ROUND STRATEGY
The Jets still need five more legitimate starters (see projected starters below) headed into Aaron Glenn’s first season as head coach. Based on that alone, they need to horde their draft capital or add to it. That makes trading up not feasible, and trading down an option.
- In the very unlikely event Hunter or Carter make it to #7, don’t pick up the phone – write the name on the card and run it in.
- If Graham, Membou, or Banks, Jr., in that order, is available, you can field phone calls. However, if a team doesn’t make an irresistible offer, select one of those players and complete one of the two trenches.
- In the unlikely event all five of those players, along with presumed #1 overall pick Cam Ward, QB, Miami (Fl) are gone, then I would not only take calls, but I’d make them too since the difference between #6 and #10 is just a matter of taste.
- If no deal comes to fruition, then you select Warren, and introduce who you hope becomes New York’s version of “Gronk”.
