In less than 48 hours, Green Bay will host the NFL Draft for the first time. The anticipation, preparation and speculation will be over, as we finally find out who goes where. Our local teams are once again in the spotlight with Top 10 picks (the Giants for the 7th time and the Jets for the 8th time since 2013).

Round One starts Thursday at 8p on ABC, ESPN, ESPN2, ESPN Deportes, and the NFL Network.

This is our third and final NFL Mock Draft (3.0), giving you the full 7 round results for our local teams. I used the Pro Football Network “NFL Draft Simulator” to make all the picks except for the Giants and Jets. Yours truly made those in place of Joe Schoen and Darren Mougey.

The Simulator’s First Two Picks

  1. Tennessee Titans select Cam Ward, QB, Miami (FL)
  2. Cleveland Browns select Abdul Carter, EDGE, Penn State

The Giants Are On The Clock
The overwhelming consensus is that the two best players in the draft are Abdul Carter and Travis Hunter. Carter is a speedy edge rusher who is being compared to Micah Parsons. Hunter is the dual-threat WR/CB who won the Heisman Trophy and has no one to be compared to in the modern era. Add QB Cam Ward to the mix, and the Giants will be happy selecting whoever is left, unless they get a gargantuan offer that blows the draft value chart out of the water.

  1. New York Giants select Travis Hunter, WR/CB, Colorado.

The Simulator’s Next Three Picks

  1. New England Patriots select Will Johnson, CB, Michigan
  2. Jacksonville Jaguars select Tyler Warren, TE, Penn State
  3. Las Vegas Raiders select Arman Membou, OT, Missouri

The Jets Are On The Clock
The simulator left us staring at our 4th ranked player, Michigan defensive tackle Mason Graham. Graham would be considered a very safe, high value pick just like when the Jets were able to draft Leonard Williams 6th overall in 2015 and Quinnen Williams 3rd overall in 2019. Graham was going to be our pick, until the phone rang.

According to the “Draft Pick Trade Value Chart” created by Jimmy Johnson, the Jets pick is valued at 1500 points. The Los Angeles Chargers offered 1588 points, which includes conservatively valuing their future draft choice at the bottom of the round. Based on the fact the Jets need to fill starter roles at RT, TE, WR2, DT and SS, we accepted the offer:

New York Jets Trade:

  • Pick #7 (1st Round) 1500 points

 Los Angeles Chargers Trade:

  • Pick #22 (1st Round) 780 points
  • Pick #55 (2nd Round) 350 points
  • Pick #86 (3rd Round) 160 points
  • Pick #159th (5th Round) 28 points
  • 2026 2nd Round Pick 270 points

The Simulator Continues

  1. Los Angeles Chargers select Mason Graham, DT, Michigan
  2. Carolina Panthers select Jalon Walker, LB, Georgia
  3. New Orleans Sains select Will Campbell, OT, LSU
  4. Chicago Bears select Ashton Jeanty, RB, Boise State
  5. San Francisco 49ers select Shemar Stewart, EDGE, Texas A&M
  6. Dallas Cowboys select Tetairoa McMillan, WR, Arizona
  7. Miami Dolphins select Derrick Harmon, DT, Oregon
  8. Indianapolis Colts select Matthew Golden, WR, Texas
  9. Atlanta Falcons select Mike Green, EDGE, Marshall
  10. Pittsburgh Steelers select Shedeur Sanders, QB, Colorado
  11. Cincinnati Bengals select Mykel Williams, EDGE, Georgia
  12. Seattle Seahawks select Kelvin Banks, Jr. OT, Texas
  13. Tampa Bay Buccaneers select Jahdae Barron, CB, Texas
  14. Denver Broncos select Tyler Booker, OG, Alabama
  15. Arizona Cardinals select Nic Scourton, EDGE, Texas A&M

The Jets Are Back On The Clock
Colston Loveland is on the top of my board, but with so many good day-two tight ends, we were leaning toward Ohio State OT Josh Simmons or Georgia S Malaki Starks, but then the phone rang again with another offer I couldn’t refuse.

New York Jets Trade:

  • Pick #22 (1st Round) 780 points

Minnesota Vikings Trade:

  • Pick #24 (1st Round) 740 points
  • Pick #97 (4th Round) 112 points
  • 2026 3rd Round Pick 120 points

The Simulator Continues

  1. Minnesota Vikings select James Pearce, Jr, EDGE, Tennessee
  2. Green Bay Packers select Donovan Ezeiruaku, EDGE, Boston College

The Jets Are Back On The Clock (Again)
Having acquired four additional picks in this year’s draft, and two premium picks in next year’s draft, we ignored the phones and finally made our pick, bringing Justin Fields an impactful tight end. The consensus top TE Tyler Warren is a better blocker, but many analysts believe Colston Loveland has a higher ceiling as receiver.

  1. New York Jets select Colston Loveland, TE, Michigan

The Simulator Continues

  4. Detroit Lions select Emeka Egbuka, WR, Ohio State
  5. Washington Redskins select Malaki Starks, S, Georgia
  6. Buffalo Bills select Trey Amos, CB, Ole Miss
  7. Kansas City Chiefs select Josh Conerly Jr, OT, Oregon
  8. Philadelphia Eagles select Maxwell Hairston, CB, Kentucky

New York Giants 2025 Rookie Class

  • Pick #3 (1st Round) Travis Hunter, CB, Colorado
  • Pick #34 (2nd Round) Tyler Shough, QB, Louisville
  • Pick #65 (3rd Round) Ozzy Trapilo, OT, Boston College
  • Pick #99 (3rd Round) Shemar Turner, DT, Texas A&M
  • Pick #105 (4th Round) Omarr Norman-Lott, DT, Tennessee
  • Pick #154 (5th Round) Mitchell Evans, TE, Notre Dame
  • Pick #219 (6th Round) Xavier Truss, OG, Georgia
  • Pick #246 (7th Round) Trevor Etienne, RB, Georgia

The New York Giants Analysis
The Giants didn’t make any trades and used their 8 picks on 5 ½ offensive players and 2 ½ defensive players. Of course, Hunter is much more than a ½ player. He’s arguably the most-hyped non-QB to enter the NFL since Reggie Bush in 2006. His ability to play both sides of the ball only draws modern comparisons to baseball’s Shohei Ohtani. He’s a perfect running mate for last year’s top pick WR Malik Nabers, while helping a much maligned secondary as well. If the Cleveland Browns take Hunter, Carter is not a bad consolation prize. The Giants would immediately have the personnel to create a dynamic pass rush. Either way, the Giants are going to get a great prospect at the top of the draft.

In the second round, we went with Shough rather than Jaxson Dart or Jalen Milroe because he’s closer to a finished product. He has a strong arm and throws the type of tight spirals that are needed in MetLife Stadium. He is also very athletic. At best he becomes the Giants QB of the future. At worst, he’s Daniel Jones 2.0, but only costing a second-round pick. The rest of the draft was ticking off boxes of needs, with great value coming at #65 with Trapilo and #154 with Evans.

New York Jets 2025 Rookie Class

  • Pick #24 (1st Round) Colston Loveland, TE, Michigan
  • Pick #42 (2nd Round) Aireontae Ersery, OT, Minnesota
  • Pick #55 (2nd Round) Jalen Milroe, QB, Alabama
  • Pick #73 (3rd Round) Joshua Farmer, DT, Florida State
  • Pick #86 (3rd Round) Harold Fannin Jr., TE, Bowling Green
  • Pick #97 (3rd Round) Kevin Winston Jr., S, Penn State
  • Pick #110 (4th Round) Ty Robinson, DT, Nebraska
  • Pick #145 (5th Round) Nick Nash, WR, San Jose State
  • Pick #158 (5th Round) Jamaree Caldwell, DT, Oregon
  • Pick #162 (5th Round) Jared Ivey, EDGE, Ole Miss
  • Pick #186 (6th Round) Sebastian Castro, S, Iowa
  • Pick #207 (6th Round) LeQuint Allen, RB, Syracuse
  • Future Pick 2026 2nd Round (from LAC)
  • Future Pick 2026 3rd Round (from MIN)

The New York Jets Analysis
The likelihood of the Jets getting the same trade offers when they are on the clock is minimal, and they would probably go with Mason Graham over Tyler Warren given the options they had. Personally, that is a move I could get behind because that would solidify the starting defensive line with four #1 picks (Graham, Jermaine Johnson, Will McDonald, and Williams). However, if the Jets’ phone does ring with a compelling offer, they can’t be afraid to move down if Carter, Hunter and Armand Membou are all off the board.

The surprise pick, to myself, was QB Jalen Milroe at #55. Before acquiring the extra draft capital, I was planning on taking a flier on a QB like Will Howard (Ohio State) or Riley Leonard (Notre Dame) late on Day 3. However, Milroe has many of the same attributes that have me believing that Fields could be the long-term solution at quarterback. They have similar body types, strong arms and rushing skills. Putting Milroe in the same QB room with Fields, and (health permitting) Jordan Travis would be a great opportunity for all three young guys to learn from vet Tyrod Taylor. There is always a danger of dual-threat QBs getting hurt, and there is safety in numbers.

The two value picks I’m most excited about are TE Harold Fannin, Jr, and S Kevin Winston, Jr. Fannin set the record for receptions and receiving yards for tight ends in 2024 with 117 receptions and 1555 yards. He’s more of a large (6’4”, 230 pounds) receiver than a prototypical tight end. As mentioned in “The New York Jets Mock 2025 NFL Draft (2.0)”, Aaron Glenn said they will design their schemes around their talent, rather than the other way around. Loveland and Fannin, Jr. on the field together could be a matchup nightmare for defenses.

Winston missed most of the 2024 season which is probably why he was available at pick #97. The Jets need a safety that can stop the run, and he has a reputation as a devastating tackler.
