Welcome to “Mac’s Picks for Week 9”.

San Francisco 49ers (5-3) at New York Giants (2-5)
Sunday 1p CBS
Robert Saleh returns to MetLife Stadium as the defensive coordinator of the San Francisco 49ers. He once again has a Top 10 defense despite losing Nick Bosa (knee) and Fred Warner (ankle) to season-ending injuries. The 49ers may or may not get QB Brock Purdy back for the first time since Week 2. While Mac Jones has played admirably, it is their defense that has them at 5-3.

On the other side of the field, the New York Giants’ offense has lost Jaxson Dart’s two co-stars —  Malik Nabers (knee) and Cam Skattebo (ankle) — to season-ending injuries of their own. The good news is Tyrone Tracy Jr has recovered from the dislocated shoulder he suffered in Week 3. Dart needs him to regain his rookie form when he averaged 4.4 yards per carry compared to only 3.5 per carry in six games this season.

Mac’s Picks is written for entertainment purposes only. While “Mac” comes from gambling lineage, he’s only placed four football bets since 1989.
