New York Giants (2-4) at Philadelphia Eagles (5-2)
Sunday 1p FOX
Why does Jalen Hurts receive so much criticism from his own fanbase? He’s 51-20 as a regular season starter — 6-3 in the playoffs. He outplayed Patrick Mahomes in both Super Bowl 57 and 59. This past February, he not only earned his first ring, but he won the MVP trip to Disney World.

This season? Hurts has them in first place at 5-2 in spite of the fact that the Philadelphia Eagles have dropped from 179.3 rushing yards per game (2nd overall) to only 88.1 rushing yards per game (30th overall). He’s thrown 11 TDs against 1 INT and is completing career-best 69.7% of his passes.

I would advise Eagles fans to read “QB Q&A: Sorrow of the Browns” and “The Definitive Ranking of All 42 New York Jets Quarterbacks Since 1990”. That should sober you up.

The New York Giants shocked the defending Super Bowl champions two weeks ago on Thursday Night Football. The 34-17 defeat was the first time the Eagles lost by more than one possession since September 29, 2024, against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Eagles, and their fans, will be ready for the rematch at Lincoln Financial Field.

New York Jets (0-7) at Cincinnati Bengals (3-4)
Sunday 1p CBS
The New York Jets haven’t caught many breaks in the last 15 years. But they are fortunate to be getting a week off after Sunday’s game in Cincinnati. The mid-season bye will give Head Coach Aaron Glenn the chance to self-scout — and hopefully, self-correct.

At 0-7, with the Jets’ history, it is easy to start comparing Glenn to Rich Kotite or Adam Gase. But that’s not fair. Let’s not forget that his hiring was widely applauded across the NFL. He is not only a popular Jet alum, but a football lifer who’s been well respected as a player and coach.

Having said that, it is hard to fathom a worse start to his head coaching career. He’s preached the right things since OTAs — reducing penalties, creating takeaways, the importance of game management at the end of each half — Gang Green has fallen short in all of those areas. That’s how you lose all five one-possession games.

A win over Joe Flacco and the Cincinnati Bengals would lighten the mood a little in Florham Park, but the real work for this coaching staff happens next week. Glenn deserves a do-over for the first half, but he needs his team to show improvement in the second half, if he wants to prove he is up to the task of rebuilding this franchise.
